“We have what we seek. It is there all the time, and
if we give it time, it will make itself known to us.”

Thoughts on Psychotherapy:

Psychotherapy can help deepen an understanding of oneself, help sort out confusing feelings and conflicts, and help develop better skills at communicating with others.

For the past thirty years in my private practice in both Marin County and San Francisco I have worked with individuals, couples and families in achieving these goals.

In my work with individuals, I draw from a variety of approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive/behavioral, and goal-oriented therapy. I feel the most effective way of working with anyone must be tailored for each individual.

As I work with couples, I focus on helping each partner understand the other’s point of view while also developing a shared vocabulary. My work emphasizes self-reflection and the setting and achieving of shared goals. In the process, old fears, false assumptions and accumulated resentments are minimized, therefore allowing better communication and the building of more tender feelings and a deeper trust.
